Learn more about our team
We’re always looking for additions to our clinical team! If you’re a nurse or social worker, here are some of the benefits of working for American Health.
Diverse opportunities. There are multiple opportunities for you to use your clinical knowledge at American Health. Apply your skills to our Utilization Management, Case Management or Disease Management teams.
Use your expertise. You don’t need to be knowledgeable in every field. We know that practice makes perfect. Our case managers are hired by background, including: maternity, medical/surgical, neonatal and pediatric, oncology, psychiatric/substance abuse, rehabilitation, and transplant.
Work from home. Much of our clinical staff works from home. But just because you don’t have your coworkers sitting next to you, doesn’t mean you don’t have support. Our clinical teams work closely together and are available to lend a hand to one another.
Comprehensive training. Our training process provides a knowledge base for getting started in your career at American Health. Training begins with two weeks at the corporate headquarters in Ohio. The first week is a review of our processes and procedures, and in the second week you’ll start getting real cases and putting what you’ve learned into action. Once you go home, you’ll be in orientation for 90 days, during which time you can always reach out to resources including the education team, your mentors and your supervisor, and you’ll have weekly webinars to continue learning.
Make a difference. Working from your desk doesn’t mean you’re not making an impact. Our clinical team talks to patients all over the country and makes a true difference in their lives, at a time when they need it the most.

What’s a typical day like for you? When I’m training, I am in the classroom for eight hours for two weeks, and I also attend meetings when I can. When I’m not training, I work on updating the Case Management process manual, sending out new information to staff, providing ongoing training and answering many questions.
What’s unique about American Health? American Health is like a big family. There are also opportunities for different positions within American Health.
Why would you suggest someone work for American Health? Case Managers can make a difference in a patient’s life and have a positive impact. We have a great team of people here.

What’s a typical day like for you? I communicate with at least 30 members per day. I help them establish their health goals by using motivational interviewing, and we celebrate their success when they make healthy lifestyle changes.
What’s your most memorable experience with a member? I have had so many, but I think helping the ones that need to lose weight. Weight loss not only helps them resolve many of their health conditions, but it also makes them very happy about themselves and it changes their lives.
Diane Niehaus, RN
Disease Management nurse health coach

What’s a typical day like for you? I work from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and my normal day includes contacting members and coaching them toward better health by using motivational interviewing. This technique allows the member to be the “driving force” toward success in health improvement.
What’s unique about American Health? We, as health coaches, have our own caseload of members to manage, thus promoting a feeling of genuine trust and achieving better outcomes.
Why would you suggest someone work for American Health? It is a growing company and a company that has achieved national recognition as one of the best!

What’s a typical day like for you? I work onsite for one of our government clients. My day is spent working directly with the client to ensure we are doing all that we can to meet their needs, as well as communicating with American Health Case Management, Disease Management and Utilization Management staff to coordinate all of the services we provide to the client.
What’s unique about American Health? Despite American Health’s growth in recent years, it still feels like a small company. American Health is able to be flexible and adapt to different client needs rather than offering only one way of doing things and forcing the client to adapt.
Why would you suggest someone work for American Health? American Health still feels like a small company, but our recent growth has provided many opportunities for nurses across the country to telecommute, utilize their clinical expertise and often work in non-traditional roles.

Over the years, I have been impressed by both the Utilization Review and Case Management services provided by American Health Holding. The customer service is excellent! It is great to have an actual contact when a situation arises. The case management nurses are knowledgeable; their reports are understandable and comprehensive. Many of our patients in Case Management have called Group Administrators to say the case manager was wonderful to work with and very helpful.Mary Hasterok

American Health Holding has been a strategic partner of Fox-Everett for many years. From the onset of our relationship, they have demonstrated their depth of knowledge in case management for us, our reinsurance carriers and our many clients with self-funded medical plans. They have the flexibility to provide services for our clients that are not aligned with their core business; they have provided an onsite nurse for our TPA, which places expert clinical knowledge right in our workplace, and they perform more as an extension of our business than as a "vendor."Nita Miller
